State of Place הינו כלי עבודה לניתוח כמותי של רחובות ומקומות. הכלי מבוסס על אלגוריתם הבוחן כ-290 פרמטרים הנוגעים לאיכות המרחב ב-10 קטגוריות שונות: צורה, צפיפות, קישוריות, סמיכות, פארקים ומרחבים ציבוריים, מתקני פנאי, תשתיות להולכי רגל ורוכבי אופניים, בטיחות, אסתטיקה, בטחון אישי.  
האתר פותח ע"י ד"ר מריאלה אלפונזו, בעלת למעלה מ- 20 שנות ניסיון בשילוב בין עיצוב עירוני להתנהגות תוך התמקדות באומדן ערך המקום. אתר זה מהווה דוגמה של מימוש בין עולם האקדמיה למציאות בשטח.

Stete of Place הינה תוכנה להערכת רמת הליכות. התוכנה כוללת כ- 300 ערכים שונים המעידים על רמת הליכות במרחב הנבדק, המתבססים על מעל 200 מקרי מבחן שנסקרו במשך שני עשורי מחקר.

במסגרת מחקר שערכה ד"ר אלפונזו, היא הוכיחה כי סביבה שמעודדת הליכה ברגל מייקרת מחירי שכירות של עסקים, מה שמאפשר לרשויות להנות מהכנסות מיסים גבוהות יותר. כך, נוצר מצב של Win-Win הן עבור התושבים שנהנים ממרחבים המעודדים הליכה ברגל , הן עבור העסקים הנהנים מתנועת העוברים ושבים, והן עבור הרשויות הנהנות מהכנסות מיסוי גבוהות יותר.
